Halliburton Surveying & Mapping

STRUCTURED CABLING PROJECT

A long-time Managed IT client, Halliburton relied on Travel Tech to help in the planning, design, and construction phases of their new ground-up building. As a design-build project, there were several aspects to the project that required close coordination with the client, the general contractor team, and the architect to ensure that their IT requirements were met within the budget and scope that would fulfill their needs.

Project Scope

Brought on during the planning phase, we helped identify the best way to route data lines and the placement of the server and network rack for future security and compliance needs. Additionally, we developed a phased approach for camera installation and door access, ensuring the ability to expand for future needs with minimal additional costs. Throughout the project, new needs were identified as part of the design/build process, and pivoting installation pathways to keep from having additional costs was a priority.

Project challenges included:

  • Design/build construction
  • Stay within Client budget
  • Tight construction and installation windows and deadlines
  • Minimize downtime for Client during move

Finished Result

We were successful with both having the new building move-in ready and reusing network equipment from the old location with minimal downtime. The transition of all systems to the new building was seamless, resulting in a move-in-ready state. Additionally, we were able to successfully pivot our installation to prioritize hardware infrastructure like door access functionality to be able to assist in getting an early Certificate of Occupancy and clear inspections with the City of Huntsville Building Department and Fire Safety.
